Individual Psychotherapy

I offer short and long term individual psychotherapy for older adolescents and adults.  After an initial consultation, I am able to offer recommendations for treatment.  Short and long term treatment options will be discussed with you, and we will make a decision together about what is right for you.

Group Psychotherapy

Group therapy can be a powerful adjunctive treatment to individual work, or it can be a powerful
treatment on its own.  Working with others in a group can lessen social anxiety, increase self-confidence, deepen your relationships and strengthen your sense of self. Please let me know if this is something you would like to explore.

Couples and Marital Psychotherapy

I work with couples in and out of marriages who are either in crisis, trying to avoid crises or who are trying to enhance their relationship.

Clinical Supervision

I provide supervision/consultation of masters and doctoral level clinicians. I use a model that incorporates interpersonal process work to address transference/countertransference enactments in the work.  I am trained psychodynamically, and I train others in this model; I tend to work from a contemporary analytic perspective, and am interested in helping clinicians enhance their clinical skills.

Anti-Racism Work
I work with individuals and groups as well as other therapists to learn about how racism affects them and how it has impacted their development. I also work with clinicians on how to talk with white patients about their whiteness and their unconscious and conscious biases, prejudices and blind spots when it comes to racism. This is specialized work, and I am in continual paid consultation to check my own privilege, prejudices, biases and internalized racial superiority. If you would like to do this work with me as a primary goal of your consultation or therapy, I will donate 80% of the cost to an African American led organization that specializes in mental health care for African American and other People of Color.

Executive Development and Professional Coaching

Most people spend the majority of their waking hours at work. We think about work, we talk about work and we derive a lot of our self esteem through our experiences in the work place. Overall life satisfaction is tied intricately to job satisfaction. I offer various services to people who want to focus mainly on their career path. This can include helping you determine strategies for finding a job or switching careers, it can mean helping you navigate your way up the ladder in your current job, and it can mean helping you understand your strengths and vulnerabilities as an executive so you feel solid in your professional identity.

My early career background began at CBS Radio, where I worked my way up from radio station receptionist to National Advertising Account Executive. My corporate experience, along with training in group and organizational dynamics, has allowed me over the years to help people develop their professional identities and hone their skills in the workplace. While this work has primarily evolved in the context of psychotherapy, the merging of professional development and psychology is a natural one. We spend most of our waking lives at work, and overall contentment depends in large part on job satisfaction. My approach to any work that focuses on personal enrichment organically includes professional identity and development.

Executive coaching and professional development counseling can be very rewarding interpersonally as well as internally. My psychodynamic training lends itself to fostering a deeper awareness of how the unconscious mind creates opportunity as well as challenges for growth and contentment. You will learn about organizational culture, role suction, boundary spanning, Communication feedback loops, transference, projection and projective identification. Our work can be tailored to the individual and the corporation. I am very excited to share more, and hope you will contact me to learn about my practice.
